Tuition
Regular tuition for this program is $995 with a group rate of $895 each for two or more registrants from the same firm. For government employees, we offer a special rate of $795. For students and people in their job for less than a year, our rate is $497.50. All rates include admission to all seminar sessions, food and beverages at breaks, and all course materials. Make checks payable to Law Seminars International.
Cancellation & Substitution
You may substitute another person at any time. We will refund tuition, less a $50 cancellation fee, if we receive your cancellation by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 4, 2006. After that time, we will credit your tuition toward attendance at another program or the purchase of a homestudy. There is a $25 cancellation fee for Course Materials orders and $50 for Homestudy orders.
Continuing Education Credits
This program qualifies for 13.0 WA CLE credits. Upon request, we will apply for CLE credits in other states and other types of credits.

Our complete Homestudy Course, consisting of a VHS or DVD recording and the written course materials, is available for $1005. The written course materials alone are available for $100. Faculty Bios
Robert D. Kahn, Ed. D., Program Co-Chair, is the Principal of Robert D. Kahn & Company, a strategic communications firm. Dr. Kahn consults extensively with independent power producers in permit assistance, policy advocacy and public relations.
Peter D. Mostow, Program Co-Chair and partner at Stoel Rives LLP, concentrates his practice in natural resources and land use law, guiding clients through siting and environmental permitting proceses for gas-fired, wind, geo-thermal and hydroelectric power plants as well as underground natural gas storage facilities and pipelines.
Michael Jay Brown, partner in Dorsey & Whitney LLP's Corporate Group and former Co-Chair of the Venture Capital and Emerging Companies Practice Group, has served as counsel on many dozens of private, venture and institutional financings, has an active mergers and acquisitions practice, and has served as project finance counsel in large equity and debt funded project financings.
Stanley R. Bull is the Associate Director of Science & Technology, National Renewable Energy Laboratory and Vice President of Midwest Research Institute.
Matt Clouse, designed and launched Green Power Partnership, part of the Environmental Protection Agency, of which he is now director, responsible for program operations, utility and marketer collaborations, and renewable enrgy policy.
Edward D. Einowski specializing in project finance and development at Stoel Rives LLP, represents developers, investor owned utilities, investment banking firms, and state and local governments.
Jason Eisdorfer, legal counsel and energy program director for the Citizen's Utility Board, was public interest representative in work sessions of the Oregon Legislature's House Committee on Power Deregulation and helped author Oregon's electricity industry restructuring legislation.
Jon Fischer, Director of Transmission and Interconnection at PPM Energy, Inc., manages transmission acquisition and interconnection-related activities for PPM's renewable and thermal development and origination.
Gregory W. Forge is General Counsel of Acorn Ventures, Inc., a venture capital firm, where he is responsible for all investment and legal matters, including mergers and acquisitions, finance negotiations and documentation. Before joining Acorn, he was Vice President & General Counsel of HighSpeed.Com, a wireless broadband telecom company.
Nancy C. Floyd, Co-Founder & Managing Director of Nth Power, an energy venture capital firm, has led its investments in Evergreen Solar, Silicon Energy, Northern Power, Smartsynch, Serveron, SpectraSensors and Seattle Biofuels. Prior to Nth Power, she built, managed and negotiated the sale of two high-growth energy and telecommunications companies.
Michael Grainey is Director of the Oregon Department of Energy, which reviews proposed power plants and other energy facilities, develops renewable energy and implements other state energy policies.
Randall W. Hardy, principal, founded Hardy Energy Consulting after serving as Administrator of the Bonneville Power Administration and Superintendent of Seattle City Light. He provides strategic advice to utilities, customers, and others affected by electric restructuring.
Robert Harmon, Vice President of Renewable Energy Programs, Bonneville Environmental Foundation, developed BEF's Green Tag program.
Fred Krupica, CFO at Altra Inc., who led a successful IPO for Fastclick and subsequent sale and merger of the company to Valueclick, has been CFO of WJ Communications, Inc., a leading radio frequency semiconductors company, for Magnetic Data Technologies, and a private equity firm.
William B. Marcus, Principal Economist, JBS Energy, Inc., is the lead economist for all utility issues for the company. He co-authored a book on utility restructuring for the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners. He also analyzed restructuring and stranded cost issues in the United States and Canada for consumer, environmental, and independent power clients.
Steve Marshall, Chairman of the Municipal League of King County was previously the Assistant General Manager in the Power & Transmission Services Division of the Snohomish County PUD, focusing on power contract negotiations, resource development and industry restructuring.
David W. McClain, Principal of DW McClain & Associates, environmental, permitting and natural resource development planning firm, worked with independent power producers to license and develop renewable energy projects on US Forest Service, BLM, Department of Defense and Indian Reservation lands.
Malcolm McLellan, member, Van Ness Feldman, focuses his practice on energy, environment, municipal, and commercial law that includes: the hydroelectric industry, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act and the Migratory Bird Act. He is integrally involved in the formation of Grid West and its integration with the Western Interconnection and Canada.
Howard Schwartz is Energy Policy Analyst of the Northwest Power and Conservation Council. He is also an Adjunct Professor at The Evergreen State College in Olympia where he teaches a course on "The Essentials of Energy."
Dan Seligman, an attorney in Seattle and principal in the Columbia Research Corporation, an energy and natural resources consulting firm, has clients that include public power utilities in the Pacific Northwest, state agencies and business trade associations.
Marilynn Semro, Senior Power Analyst at Seattle City Light, works with both investor-owned and publicly-owned electric utilities on rates and regulatory matters, resource planning and aquisition.She negotiated the largest municipal utility wind purchase in the country and was also on the steering committee of the National Geothermal Collaborative.
Carol A. Smoots, partner at Perkins Coie LLP, represents energy companies in energy transactions and in energy regulatory proceedings. She has worked with all major renewable fuels, and led an international team in the renegotiation of 27 power purchase contracts, worth more than $28 billion, on behalf of the government owned electric utility in Indonesia.
Martin Tobias, Chairman and CEO of Imperium Renewables and a venture partner at Ignition Partners was founder, CEO, and Chairman of Loudeye Technologies, Inc., a pioneer in digital media production, distribution, and applications. He also worked with Microsoft, holds two technolgy patents, and, with his wife Alex, was profiled in "Biker Dreams."
