Faculty Bios

Mark Grossman, Program Co-Chair, is a shareholder and chairs Becker & Poliakoff, P.A.’s Technology Law Group. He concentrates his practice exclusively representing major corporations, financial institutions, and medium-sized businesses on issues ranging from outsourcing contract negotiation, website development and online contracting to technology procurement, e-commerce issues, intellectual property rights on the Internet, vendor liability, raising venture capital, and technology litigation. Mr. Grossman also represents computer and technology companies such as software developers, Internet service providers, computer consultants, and government agencies.

Jose I. Rojas, Program Co-Chair, is a founding partner of Rojas Santos Stokes & Garcia LLP, concentrating his practice in handling complex business and international litigation and alternative dispute resolution, as well as intellectual property and technology-related legal matters. Mr. Rojas has extensive experience in structuring e-commerce, computer and Internet-related transactions and agreements; counseling on and resolving patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret disputes; and in litigating computer-related and other high technology matters.

David G. Bates is a shareholder at Gunster Yoakley & Stewart, P.A. and the former Chairman of the firm’s corporate department. He is currently Chairman of the Emerging Company Practice Group. Mr. Bates regularly counsels clients in buying and selling businesses, Internet law, computer law, corporate and business law and venture capital. Michael J. Buchenhorner is a registered patent attorney at Holland & Knight LLP. Mr. Buchenhorner’s practice includes all aspects of intellectual property law, including litigation, protection, and procurement of patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. Previously, he served as Director of IP for AltaVista Corporation where he was responsible for development and enforcement of the global intellectual property portfolio.

G. Donovan Conwell, Jr. is a shareholder at Fowler White Boggs Banker in the Litigation Department and is the Computer Practice Group Leader and a member of the Products Liability Practice Group. Mr. Conwell does plaintiff and defense work in the field of computer law. His practice includes computer related litigation and transactions and has obtained multi-million dollar jury verdicts in computer litigation.

Linda C. Dolan focuses her practice in the area of patent litigation at Allen, Dyer, Doppelt, Milbrath & Gilchrist, P.A. Ms. Dolan is a former member of U.S. EPA National Advisory Committee for Public Policy and Technology Subcommittee.

Kenneth K. Dort is a partner at Gordon & Glickson LLC where he focuses on information technology and intellectual property law, particularly technology related issues such as software development and licensing and systems development and integration.

Thomas A. Dye is a shareholder at Carlton Fields. Mr. Dye is a trial lawyer handling commercial, telecommunications, intellectual property, product liability, and class action cases. Mr. Dye is Co-Chair of the Telecommunications and Technology Litigation Practice Group. Mr. Dye handles trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation in state and federal court.

Manuel Farach is a partner at Rutherford Mulhall, P.A. and concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate, commercial and appellate litigation, and Internet law. He is a Board Certified Business Litigation and Real Estate Lawyer by The Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education.

Jon Gibbons is a founder of the IP Law firm of Fleit, Kain, Gibbons, Gutman, Bongini & Bianco, P.L. which focuses on patents, trademarks, copyrights, licensing, trade secrets and related enforcement with a concentration in software, computers, electronics and internet. Mr. Gibbons has taught programming and automation, provided strategic IP counseling, and provides expert testimony in all aspects of IP.

Bradley J. Gross concentrates his practice at Becker & Poliakoff, P.A. on computer and Internet law, including Internet-banking regulations, ASP, Internet fraud and privacy issues, and breaches of trade secrets. He has represented clients in areas such as technology related non-disclosure agreements and software code licensing.

Richard D. Harris is the chair of Day, Berry & Howard LLP’s Technology and IP Business Law Practice Group. His practice includes structuring, negotiating and documenting the acquisition, disposition and recapitalization of technology-related business enterprises and assisting clients in the implementation of a broad range of strategic outsourcing arrangements. A significant part of his practice is focused on representation of large user of telecommunications services.

Tery Howard is the Director of Information Technology for the Miami Dolphins where she is responsible for defining the technology direction for the Dolphins and Pro Player Stadium to include strategic planning, project management, development, infrastructure/networking and telecommunications initiatives.

Samuel A. Lewis is a member at FeldmanGale where he handles both litigation and transactional matters representing clients with technology-relation issues. Also, he has served as outside general counsel for corporate clients. Previously, Mr. Lewis designed and programmed software for major computer systems. This diverse background has allowed Mr. Lewis to work closely with corporate clients to reduce potential exposure to lawsuits and to protect intellectual property rights.

William A. McComas, a partner with Shapiro Sher Guinot & Sandler, counsels clients ranging from entrepreneurs to Fortune 100 corporations on commercial transactions. He concentrates on assisting companies in creating, protecting, acquiring, developing and commercializing technology, as well as in distributing, servicing and marketing products and services and integration.

Jon Neiditz is Counsel and Leader of Human Resources and Information Management at Hunton & Williams. Mr. Neiditz focuses his practice on establishment of relationships of trust, transparency and respect, particularly in employment, but also in health, e-commerce and government. He also serves as Chair of the Board of the Atlanta Regional Health Forum.

Michael Palage is an intellectual property attorney and an information technology consultant with Palage Consulting. Mr. Palage currently sits on the ICANN Board of Directors. Mr. Palage has been involved in domain name policy as a consultant to domain name registrars and registries, a WIPO UDRP panelist, and as an expert witness in Internet related matters.

Thomas A. Sadaka is currently Of Counsel to Berger Singerman. Prior to joining Berger Singerman, Mr. Sadaka served as Special Counsel for Computer Crimes and Identity Theft Prosecutions in the Florida Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution and oversaw all criminal prosecution of computer and Internet crimes and identity theft cases. Mr. Sadaka served as the National Association of Attorneys General computer crime contact; and the Department of Justice 24/7 computer crime prosecution contact.

Jose A. Santos is a founding partner of Rojas Santos Stokes & Garcia LLP and practices in the area of international commercial and financing transactions, assisting companies with establishing and acquiring operations. His experience covers mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions, joint ventures, distributorships, loans and structured finance, technology transfers, arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
