Steve Tapia, Program Co-Chair, is Director of Worldwide Business Development for Microsoft Corporation’s Electronic Books and Digital Distribution Group. Previously he was a senior attorney at Microsoft.

Holly K. Towle, Program Co-Chair, is a member of Preston Gates Ellis LLP’s Technology and Intellectual Property Department. She advises clients on legal aspects of ecommerce, including licensing, econtracting, consumer protection and financial institution regulations. She is included in the banking and cyber law sections of The Best Lawyers in America and speaks nationally and internationally on ecommerce, licensing and online services.

William Ashworth is Policy Counsel for e-commerce, privacy and spam issues at Microsoft Corporation in Redmond, WA. Prior to coming to Microsoft, Mr. Ashworth was Counsel for Technology Policy with the American Electronics Association, and was in private practice in Washington DC where he focused on telecommunications, copyright and e-commerce law.

Ian C. Ballon is a partner in the Palo Alto and Los Angeles offices of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, concentrating on e-commerce, new media and intellectual property litigation, licensing and strategic counseling. He is the author of e- Commerce and Internet Law: Treatise with Forms. Mr. Ballon also serves as Executive Director of Stanford University Law School’s Center for E-Commerce.

David A. Bateman of Preston Gates Ellis LLP focuses his practice on litigation, arbitration and alternative methods of dispute resolution. He concentrates on employment litigation and has extensive experience in complex civil litigation with an emphasis on commercial disputes and consumer finance and insurance matters.

Theodore “Ted” F. Claypoole of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC is a senior member of the firm’s Technology and Commercial Practice Group. He negotiates and prepares marketing, software, hosted application and electronic commerce agreements for all types of companies. He also regularly publishes articles on the law and technology.

Jeff C. Dodd is a partner in the Houston and Austin, Texas offices of Andrews & Kurth, LLP. His practice focuses on information, intellectual property, e-commerce and technology matters. He is a frequent author on information law, intellectual property law and e-commerce.

Brad Feuer, co-founder and partner at MEA Digital is the Director of Business Development where he identifies and solves critical emarketing problems for clients via affiliate programs, banner advertising, e-mail marketing, search engine optimization or web site development through the latest online techniques.

Linda A. Goldstein is a partner at Hall Dickler Kent Goldstein & Wood, a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and head of its Advertising, Marketing & Media Department. She represents clients in every sector of the advertising and marketing industry in advertising, intellectual property, and Internet matters and is a nationallyrecognized expert in several industry segments, including: Promotions, The Internet, Direct Response and Telemarketing.

Joshua I. Halpern is Vice President of iThreat Intelligence Solutions at ICG, Inc. Since joining ICG, he has developed intelligence solutions and blackmarket threat management strategies for leading digital entertainment, financial, ISP, and pharmaceutical businesses. He has led crisis management efforts for critical InfoSec incidents at Global 2500 corporations and leading eCommerce websites.

Todd M. Hinnen is a trial attorney with the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section of the U.S. Department of Justice focusing on constitutional and intellectual property law. Mr. Hinnen has written extensively on terrorists’ use of the Internet to raise and move funds, and on appropriate sentencing for computer crime violations. He also serves as Head of the United States Delegation to the Organization of American States Group of Experts on Cybercrime and the vicechairman, or “Rapporteur,” to the G8 Sub-Group on High-Tech Crime.

Christopher M. Kelly of Baker & McKenzie advises companies on the legal, business, and technological challenges of privacy, security, and data protection in an interconnected world. His practice includes the development of privacy policies and standards for businesses, strategic counseling on compliance with changing national and international rules on data usage, conducting privacy audits, and advice on the data protection issues in mergers and acquisitions.

Douglas W. Kenyon is a partner at Hunton & Williams LLP where he is the resident partner responsible for antitrust, trade regulation, and intellectual property litigation and advises clients on franchising. His counseling in the antitrust field includes advising clients on pricing and distribution practices, mergers & acquisitions, trade associations and export activities.

Derek A. Newman of Newman & Newman LLP focuses his practice on two broad areas: 1) structuring Internet related deals, including strategic alliances, joint ventures, acquisitions, and licensing of content, trademarks, and publicity/ personality rights; and 2) enforcement/ litigation/prosecution of Internet rights including copyrights, trademarks, publicity/personality rights, cyberspace defamation, invasion of privacy via Internet, breach of contract, and security breaches.

Raymond T. Nimmer is Leonard Childs Professor of Law and Director, Intellectual Property and Information Law Institute, at the University of Houston Law Center. He has authored over ten books, including The Law of Computer Technology, and was Reporter to the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws for its new commercial code.

Hillery L. Nye practices in Preston Gates Ellis LLP’s Technology and Intellectual Property Department. She represents a variety of software, hardware, technology and entertainment clients, assisting them with both major transactions and ongoing operational matters.

Bennie Smith serves as DoubleClick’s Chief Privacy Officer, responsible for guiding privacy policies and practices across the company’s business units and geographies. He works with clients to institute effective privacy policies and educate the public about DoubleClick’s commitment to online privacy.

Daniel M. Waggoner is a partner at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP where he serves as Co-Chair of the firm’s Communications, Media, and Information Technology Departments. He has been involved in many major communications and media issues throughout the country.

Joel Rothstein Wolfson, a partner with Blank Rome LLP, specializes in transactions, corporate law, and public policy in information law, biotechnology, intellectual property, and computer law. Previously, he was Vice President and Associate General Counsel for the Nasdaq Stock Market’s e-Commerce and Intellectual Property Group.
