“Water is always a critical path for power projects. A new administration adds yet another complicating factor to the Pacific Northwest's critical water and energy uncertainties. The region is facing a mammoth federal Columbia Basin Biological Opinion salmon recovery proposal with a first-year price tag estimated in the billions, a California power crisis that has triggered rolling blackouts and wild spot market inflation and a winter drought that has drained reservoirs and contributed to closing Northwest businesses because of soaring power costs. This seminar explores competing needs for Northwest power, water and salmon recovery in the current crisis, and in the short and longer term future. The distinguished faculty represents legal, power, utility, water, government, business, consultant and environmental perspectives.”
