Freedman, Program Co-Chair, is the co-chair of Borden Ladner Gervais LLPs National Intellectual Property and Technology Law Professional Group and the Vancouver office Intellectual Property and Technology Law Practice Leader. His practice focuses on e-business, the Internet, intellectual property, and he is also a Domain Name Dispute Arbitrator.
Holly K. Towle, Program Co-Chair, is a member of Preston Gates & Ellis LLPs Technology and Intellectual Property Department and counsels financial institutions on a wide variety of issues and transactions. Included in An International Whos Who of Internet and E-Commerce Lawyers, Ms. Towle speaks nationally and internationally on e-commerce, licensing and online services.
The Hon. Thomas B. Leary, Kickoff Address, was sworn in as a Commissioner at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in 1999. Before his service at the FTC, he was a partner at Hogan & Hartson and Assistant General Counsel of General Motors, with overall responsibility for antitrust, consumer protection and commercial law matters.
Raymond T. Nimmer, Luncheon Address, is Leonard Childs Professor of Law and Director, Intellectual Property and Information Law Institute, at the University of Houston Law Center. He has authored over ten books, including The Law of Computer Technology,and is currently the Reporter to the Uniform Commercial Code on two areas: the Drafting Committee on Article 2B Licenses and Technology Contract Issues to revise U.C.C. Article 2.
Raymond F. Pierce, Kickoff Address, is Deputy Commissioner of the Competition Bureau, Fair Business Practice Branch.

Henry B. Gutman is head of Simpson Thacher & Bartletts Intellectual Property Group, concentrating in complex, high-technology, intellectual property litigation. Since 1983 he has been principal litigation counsel for Lotus Development Corporation and has served as counsel for Lotus, Intel, Reuters, Polaroid and other technology clients.
